CARE AND MAINTENANCE:
After use, dismantle the pole shaft by unlocking and pulling the sections apart to allow any condensation inside the tubes to dry. Leave the shaft dismantled and store in a dry place until required. Condensation can occur in the tubes of any aluminium alloy trekking pole, causing the metal surfaces to oxidise (rough white markings). This will affect the smooth sliding of the shaft sections, and the turning of the plastic locking mechanism (which has a central metal core). To reassemble: twist the white plastic of the locking bolt until positioned about half-way along its central threaded core; insert into shaft section. Keep turning section firmly until it locks. Regularly clean/dry the locking-bolts and inside the pole sections. DO NOT lubricate inside the shaft sections or the plastic locking bolts (which rely on friction locking).
STOWING / STORAGE:
The minimum length for stowing is 55cm when they are dismantled, which is shorter than their compact telescopic mode.
As another option to stowing poles in your pack when needing ‘hands free’ for short scrambles – then slide the shaft sections into each other and tighten them (so they won’t slip-out and get lost!). Loop a wrist cord over the handle of the other and vice versa. The shortened shafts rest either side of the pack with their cords/handles spanning the shoulder straps near to where they attach onto the pack.
If on terrain where one pole needs to be stowed for short distances to leave one hand free:- push orange cord to the shoulder so the pole faces back out of the way. Use the toggles for adjustment for use with a T-shirt or a bulky waterproof.
